A Festive Night

ID8 wrapped up it’s 3rd cohort on December 18th in grand fashion.  In addition to being a night for ID8 participants to pitch their businesses, it was also FertiLab’s official Holiday Party.  RAIN sponsored the event along with Planktown Brewing and Territorial Vinyards who provided guests with outstanding local beer and wine for the night.

ID8 Company Pitches

After food, drinks and a brief video, the audience of 100+ tuned in to watch while each team in ID8’s 3rd Cohort received 7 minutes to pitch their business, followed by 3 minutes of Q & A from 3 judges.  The 7 startup companies that gave pitches included:

Asterism: Pharmaceutical grade supplements/drinks
Modern Tribe: Apparel made with tribal art
Kangaroo Kits: Calm down kits for kids tantrums
OnEarth: Hydrogen-Rich, Artesian spring water
Smart Matcha: Instant Matcha drink packages
The Right Plate: App for food allergies
Art City Eugene: Incubator for local artists

At the end of the night, it was Kevin Williams of OnEarth who took home the judges’ choice award for best pitch with his Hydrogen-Rich, Artesian Spring Water business.  “I didn’t even think about the possibility of winning, I was just trying to get through the pitch,” said Williams.  “I’m grateful and I’m thrilled to win, but that wasn’t what it was all about…I really have to thank FertiLab for the experience and thank all the other people that made ID8 possible.”

A Look Back

Following the presentations, special guest speakers Chad Barczak, Mike Biglan, Ted Brown, and John Friess provided the audience with “a look back” at FertiLab and the local entrepreneurial community, one which continues to grow and make its positive impacts felt.  The night concluded with a toast from Kimmy Gustafson, followed by continued celebration and networking  between community attendees, ID8 cohort members, FertiLab staff,  board members, sponsors, and special guests.

A very special “thank you” to all those who supported FertiLab’s ID8 Pre-accelerator.  ID8 would not be possible without the continued support of our mentors, volunteers, and  sponsors.  Find out more about ID8 and see what Cohort 3 participants had to say about it by watching the following video:
