FertiLab has invited all of the Eugene Mayoral candidates in for separate visits to to our new location at 44 W 7th. This is an excellent chance for entrepreneurs in this area to interact with each candidate and let your interests be heard. The first Mayoral Candidate to visit is Lucy Vinis.
Lucy Vinis has worked on behalf of the Eugene community for nearly 25 years through her professional career and many volunteer activities. Drawn to Eugene’s natural beauty, inviting community, and quality schools, she relocated here from the Washington, dc area in 1991. She and her husband, the late Dr. Lawrence Vinis, raised their two sons here.
Lucy most recently served as the Development Director at ShelterCare, a local nonprofit organization which houses and supports at-risk Oregonians. Before joining ShelterCare, she managed the annual workplace giving campaigns of Eugene/Springfield’s EarthShare of Oregon and was a consultant and freelance writer for the Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides. Prior to moving to Eugene, Lucy worked for Resource Consultants, assisting nonprofits on projects related to land use, water quality, and organic agriculture. She and her husband also managed a small farm business.
She has been active with the Eugene Education Fund, 4J schools, Toastmasters, Boy Scouts Troop 316, and her church. She has been a longtime supporter of many Eugene arts and service organizations. In 2002 she launched Youth Visions, a nonprofit film festival for high school students, that is now a program of the Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts.
Lucy also served as Campaign Manager for Councilor Alan Zelenka’s 2006 campaign and helped with Mayor Kitty Piercy’s 2008 reelection campaign. She lives in southwest Eugene.
She is a graduate of Kenyon College in Ohio and has a Master of Science from the University of Maryland and a Master of Arts from the University of Michigan.
